Richard was born in Coronada, India, on the 10th October 1894. He enlisted in Weyburn, Saskatchewan, 5th July 1915, stating his occupation as a farmer, and gave his next of kin as Thomas Kipping, of 77, Teignmouth Road, Bermondsey, Surrey.
He was five feet ten inches in height, had a fair complexion, light blue eyes and light brown hair, and he was a Roman Catholic.
